Single-session therapy

Today, as things start to open up here in England, I’ve decided to launch Lawton-Collins counselling offer of Single-session therapy. This is a counselling approach compatible with person-centred counselling and tries to help people with a specific issue in mind move forward in their relationship with that issue. An example could be if you are looking to get a promotion at work. We would explore the barriers to this in your own outlook and attempt to make the goal clearer in your own mind. This would hopefully increase your performance through decreasing your anxiety about the promotion increasing the chance of this happening at work. Because of the limited scope of single sessions it is only suitable for certain issues. This would be discussed at the mandatory assessment. Once the assessment is completed, a client may return for more single-session therapy in the future without an additional assessment.

I’ve taken this step because I realise that there are people out there needing help with things but maybe the cost or time commitment to counselling is putting them off. I have recently attended a single-session therapy workshop and am ready to engage new clients using this approach. Please get in touch if this sounds like something that would interest you.
