Give yourself permission!

There have been countless times during my life have I had to check my responses to things. From the car getting a puncture to dropping a milk bottle out of the fridge, life can sometimes present many challenges. I tend to react very badly to these kind of things! Whilst I have got a lot better and understand it isn’t the end of the world, I do think that it’s important to say ‘Yes that was a bit crap wasn’t it?’ If you’re one of the lucky people who aren’t triggered by these events then that’s great but I’m afraid I am. Whether it’s shame, embarrassment or some combination of both I feel flooded with negative emotions whenever something like this happens. What I find useful is talking it over with someone and not trying to brush it under the carpet which only stores it up for the future. So next time something bad happens, try to give yourself permission to feel cross. Talk to someone about it and hopefully the perspective that they offer can help you move on from the event.
