International Women’s Day

It’s March 8th. I’m back at work following the schools opening. I imagine a lot of men and women might be feeling a sense of relief at having balanced work with educating children for such a sustained period. Whilst I concede that many men have helped during this period, research suggests that women have overwhelmingly taken on most of the work of home schooling and have perhaps suffered some burnout as a result. Some women have had a lot on their plate and it is only fitting that on this International Women’s Day we remember what women do for us all, sometimes without even being asked. Perhaps we could move towards a world where women are less taken for granted and have more conversations around why women are expected to pick up the bulk of the work at home. Women deserve more, and we as a society can use this International Women’s day to move towards a better more equal world.
